B&T Custom Kitchens and Baths was invited by Kraftmaid Cabinetry to join our local manufacturer’s representative along with a few others to take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Extreme Makeover Home Edition jobsite in Virginia Beach. This jobsite was unlike any we have ever seen and rightfully so…106 hours to complete a new home is insane. We wondered how this could be done and the behind-the-scenes tour gave us a glimpse into how it happens.
We started in the VIP tent where we were given a t-shirt and hard hat. The house was in day 3 of construction and they were getting ready to hang drywall. We normally see houses take 3-6 months to get to this stage, not 3 days. There was a minimum of 200 skilled workers in the house and many, many more outside. The house was beautiful and all of the volunteers working together to build it was nothing less than amazing.
After our tour, we had a photo opportunity with the celebrity designer, Xzibit. He was amazing and full of energy. You could tell Xzibit along with everyone else involved in Extreme Makeover Home Edition love what they do to help the deserving families. We truly enjoyed our tour and being able to see behind-the-scenes of this amazing build.
